Five Favourites - The R Family

This family… was an incredibly special family to me. Every once in a while I have the privilege of glancing through a window (or a lens I suppose haha) into the lives of people who are willing to be incredibly vulnerable. They don’t hold anything back for fear of looking silly in front of the camera or because of the discomfort of letting a stranger into their home. This isn’t to say that not being vulnerable or fearful are bad. I am this way.. 100%. I’m scared of so many things, and I highly dislike having my picture taken. Everyone is different, everyone has their own set of fears, discomforts and vulnerabilities or lack there of, and that is completely normal and okay!

With this family, it was as though their love and familiarity with each other was so strong and open that the air felt completely comfortable as soon as I walked in. They welcomed me in and were not the least bit concerned with my presence. I got to be what I always wish to be - that fly on the wall. They did their own thing - chatted away and spent time with each other in the relaxing presence of the Christmas holidays.

After a while, we made our way over to Riley Park to have some more “formal” family photos taken and to continue the fun in the snow!
